What do you feed your hens?

We offer the hens grain-based feed, sprouts (usually oat, corn, or barley), kitchen scraps, and offer them outdoor time to forage on grasses and bugs.

Do your hens get outside?

Yes! Our approach to outside time is to balance the benefits of foraging with the risk of predation. To that end, we typically offer outside time toward the end of the day and may keep them inside on cloudy days when it’s harder for them to spot aerial predators.

What grade and size are your eggs?

We label our eggs ungraded and unsized to avoid the overhead associated with grading and sizing. That being said, we do candle our eggs for cracks and other imperfections, and when we spot weigh our eggs they are typically “large” (meaning the entire dozen is at least 24 oz).
